IOWA FALLS OPEN SPACE RECREATION COMPLEX

A project of the Iowa Falls Rugby Football Club.  The Iowa Falls Rugby Football Club Corporation has over the past years provided citizens and youth with a seven acre public use rugby/soccer/recreation complex.  The adjoining 25 acres were purchased in 1993 to develop a complete recreation complex to include: five baseball diamonds, three combination rugby/soccer/football fields, infrastructure {well, lights, concession stand, rest rooms, etc.} landscaped grounds to include screening and windbreak conifers, habitat and plantings, and winding throughout the complex a exercise/recreation trail.  This complex is being developed totally by private funding and volunteer labor.  It has been designed with assistance from the Iowa Falls Park and Recreation Department.  The Iowa Falls Rugby Football Club has informed the city it intends to operate the facility as a public recreation complex.

The original facility was a ramshackle homestead on seven acres along Georgetown road adjoining the south edge of Iowa Falls.  Private funds and volunteer labor helped transform the area into what we have today.  Although the work we set out to do is not complete.  Please feel free to call us for a copy of the master plan of the work we have yet to accomplish.

We are proud of our club's history of volunteering public service to the community.  The club has also taken on the annual Red Cross food distribution to those less fortunate during the holiday season.  Besides the very large financial commitment we have made to developing the facilities, the complex offers innumerable health/fitness outreach activities to not only the citizens of Hardin and Franklin counties, but throughout Iowa.  The club members see it as their role to step forward and accomplish the goals to provide youth and adults of the future this complex with new playing fields surrounded by a reforested park setting.

The Iowa Falls Rugby Football Club is proud to host many tournaments and share our facilities with the finest rugby clubs in the Midwest.  We host the annual Taz 7's Tournament the last weekend in June every year.  We have hosted the All Iowa Tournament for Iowa's 30 Plus Men's and Women's Teams several years.  We have hosted the Midwest Union /Northwest Region Division  II Mens League Finals. We hope you visit us to enjoy the facilities and the Iowa Falls community.  Please take some time to talk with anyone from the Iowa Falls Rugby Football Club about our plans for completion of the complex.

The photo here is of the 30 acre addition that was purchased in 1993 by the Iowa Falls Rugby Football Club Foundation.  The grounds were leveled and seeded for the purpose of adding additional fields and open space.  We currently maintain 5 Rugby fields and 1 Soccer field ready for play at a minutes notice.  Nowhere in the United States will you find a facility like those in Iowa Falls Iowa.  Shower facilities and camping areas have been added since 1993.  Future expansion plans include baseball/softball diamonds, lighted fields for night games and tournaments and permanant concession facilities.  We are always seeking donations and funding to continue our dreams of maintaining the finest rugby facilities in the Midwest.
